Cambridge police seeking suspect in armed robbery, carjacking

Cambridge police are looking for a man that allegedly showed a gun and demanded money from a nail salon employee, and then carjacked a vehicle in Somerville.

Police described the suspect as a stocky, white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Police tweeted about a possible armed robbery in Cambridge just after 12:20 p.m. Thursday. Following the robbery, the man allegedly carjacked a woman at gunpoint behind the McDonald’s at Somerville’s Twin City Plaza, CBS Boston reported. The car was later found abandoned near McGrath Highway, police said, behind SaveMor Liquors.

“A search to locate the suspect, believed to be on foot, remains ongoing,” Cambridge Police told CBS Boston.

Somerville and state police are also involved in the search. Cambridge police are asking anyone with information to call 617-349-3300.
