A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hit by a Jeep Cherokee in Lynn early Sunday morning, according to a statement from State Police.
Troopers responded to a noise complaint around 2 a.m. behind Lynnway Liquors, according to the statement. Upon arrival at the scene, police reported that there were multiple people and vehicles in the area.
The trooper -– identified as a male from the State Police Revere barracks – was trying to ID the people in the Jeep Cherokee. The driver then “took off at high speed” and hit the trooper, according to the statement.
The trooper received minor injuries, state police said. The vehicle then took off northbound on the Lynnway toward downtown Lynn.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
