Containers of urine left at, nearby home of Black Brockton City Council candidate

When Brockton City Council candidate Marlon Green got up Tuesday morning, he reportedly found a container of urine in his driveway, and two others nearby his home, according to police.

Two of the containers had hateful messages on them, authorities said. Green, who is Black, described the remarks in a Facebook post  as “racially and politically charged.”

“Nonetheless, I will not be intimidated in any of my endeavors including running for Brockton City Council,” Green said in the post. “I will always love and respect people and work towards a strong and united community.”

He couldn’t be reached for comment on Friday.

The container found in the driveway was not completely filled with urine — it had been poured out in a couple of places on the driveway, Green told The Enterprise in an interview. The two other containers were full, according to Darren Duarte, a spokesperson for Brockton police. Duarte noted that the investigation is ongoing, and police are checking the containers for fingerprints and seeing if there’s any surveillance footage of the area.

In the Enterprise interview, Green said the incident made him concerned for his family — he has a wife and two children, plus his parents live with him.

One of the containers made a comment against the Black Lives Matter movement; another made a racist comment directed at Green as a Black person. Another message read “Joe Biden piss.”

“There is no room in our communities for this kind of hate,” he said in his post. “It is always rendered unproductive.”

Duarte said police didn’t have suspects as of Friday morning. Anyone who may know something about the incident is asked to call Brockton police detectives at 508-941-0234.
