MILTON, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested Myles King, a 21-year-old Milton man, for the murder of Marquis Simmons.

Simmons, 25, died Saturday after being shot in the town of Milton.

The arrest was announced by the Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey and Milton Chief of Police John King on Sunday afternoon. Morrissey said the suspect was arrested at Milton Police Department on a murder warrant.

In a statement outlining the incident, police said Simmons was shot at about 6:00 p.m. shortly after he had dismounted his moped in the area of Belvoir Road, a small road connecting Blue Hills Ave and Blue Hills Parkway. Simmons was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

King is set to be arraigned in person tomorrow morning in Quincy District Court.

“The Milton Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office worked through last night in gathering evidence and bringing us to this point,” Morrissey said. “I want to thank the Milton Police and Chief John King for their excellent partnership here.”
