Man shot, killed in Weymouth identified as 30-year-old Cambridge man

Two other people were reportedly shot and another taken to the hospital for a different medical reason, authorities said.

A man shot and killed in Weymouth early Sunday morning has been identified as a Cambridge resident.Eric. C. Small, 30, was rushed to a nearby hospital after he was found near the entrance to one of the Mastlight Apartments buildings on Patriot Parkway; he later died. Authorities had been called to the scene around 2:49 a.m. for a report of “numerous gunshots,” according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office in a press release.Three other adult men were taken to a nearby hospital. Two of the others also appeared to have been shot. The remaining man needed other medical attention, authorities said.Tracy Sanborn, a witness, told Boston 25 that she heard roughly 15 to 20 gunshots, and when she went to the window, saw dozens of people running from a townhouse. She said they looked like young adults.“And there was a guy standing there going ‘go go go,’ and there must’ve been a dozen cars that left speeding out of the parking lot,” she told the news station.Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey had said authorities believe there was some type of indoor gathering that then moved outside, according to Boston 25.Police from Braintree, Hingham and Abington responded to the area for mutual aid due to the number of victims and people there, according to the release. Another 30 officials from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, or Metro-LEC, also went to the scene to help.Weymouth police and state police are continuing to investigate. Anyone who was at the gathering, but didn’t speak with police on scene, is asked to call Weymouth police at 781-335-1212.
