Transit police arrested a man Thursday for allegedly stabbing a transit ambassador at the Copley Square Station in Boston.
What started around 1:15 p.m. as a verbal confrontation turned physical after a man stabbed the worker, who is not an MBTA employee, authorities said in a statement.
The ambassador is now in serious, but stable condition.
MBTA officials said Green Line trains in both directions bypassed the Copley stop while police were on the scene.

Transit ambassadors, according to the MBTA website, wear bright red polo shirts and help riders buy tickets and passes or provide real-time travel information.
The incident remains under investigation, and police did not release any further information as of Thursday night.
