Apparent murder-suicide at Wayland home under investigation

The victims are a 68-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man.

Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Wayland, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday night.

Police responded to a report at a residence on Adelaide Avenue by Lake Cochituate in the southern part of Wayland, which is about a half-hour drive west of Boston. They discovered a 68-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man in the garage, who were dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The man’s wound appeared to be self-inflicted, according to authorities.

Neighbors told WCVB that they believed the incident happened after a domestic dispute between the woman and her son. Officials have not released the identities of the woman and man, but they wrote that the woman lived at the house and knew the man. The district attorney’s office said that the investigation is ongoing, but that there is no threat to public safety.
