Woman charged with murder in fatal stabbing within Boston playground

“Mr. Dezrick’s life ended over an insignificant argument."

A Boston woman is being held without bail after she allegedly stabbed a man to death in a playground near South Bay late Monday night.Mary Fox, 38, is being charged with murder. She was arraigned in the Roxbury Division of Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Suffolk District Attorney.Prior to the fatal stabbing, Fox allegedly had a dispute with Michael Dezrick, 48. She then allegedly confronted him in Clifford Playground and stabbed him, the release said.Boston police were called to the scene near 1024 Massachusetts Ave., Roxbury, around midnight. There, they found Dezrick suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, police said.“Mr. Dezrick’s life ended over an insignificant argument,” Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins said in the release. “His family will never see him again, because of an argument. We must start seeing the humanity in each other and learning to de-escalate and walk away. Instead, these two families like so many others before them, are inextricably tied to each other based on a tragedy. None of their lives will ever be the same.’’Fox also had three open cases, all of which had bail revoked. Two of them were in Boston Municipal Court – receiving a stolen motor vehicle and carrying a dangerous weapon, a knife. The other was in Dedham for carrying a dangerous weapon, Rollins’s office said.Fox is scheduled to return to court on Sept 1, authorities said.
