Driver said to be going over 100 mph collides with SUV carrying Brookline couple, infant daughter
The driver, a 36-year-old Manchester, New Hampshire, man is facing several charges.
A Brookline, Massachusetts, couple and their infant daughter survived a serious traffic crash Monday night on I-93 southbound in Manchester, New Hampshire, in which their vehicle collided with a BMW that witnesses told police was traveling at over 100 mph.Now, the driver of the BMW is facing a variety of charges.Patrick Giberson, 36, of Manchester, is being charged with felony reckless conduct, felony conduct after an accident, vehicular assault, and reckless operation by state police. He’s also facing charges from the Manchester Police Department. He was held and scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, New Hampshire State Police said in a press release.Authorities were called to the scene around 7:10 p.m. When state troopers arrived, they found that a 2020 BMW X3 and a 2017 Subaru Outback had collided. The Subaru then went off the road and rolled over “multiple times,” according to authorities.The Brookline couple, along with their daughter, were taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester. The woman suffered serious but nonlife-threatening injuries, while the man and baby sustained minor injuries, state police said. Their pet dog was also with them, and the dog was taken to a nearby veterinarian with life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses, in addition to reporting Giberson’s excessive speed, told troopers that following the crash the driver of the BMW took off into the woods near the highway on foot.
Londonderry and Manchester police, as well as a state police K-9 unit, searched the area. Giberson, who matched the driver’s description given by witnesses, was found nearby, the release says; he was uninjured.
Prior to the crash, Giberson had allegedly been involved in a domestic incident and had stolen the BMW from his parents, according to police.
