Former Stow gymnastics coach arraigned on rape charges for alleged assaults on teen student

David Auger, of Hudson, owned the 10.0 Academy of Gymnastics.

A Hudson man, who owned a Stow gym, was charged with three counts of rape Friday, stemming from several incidents during which, prosecutors say, he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.

David Auger, 41, was arraigned in Concord District Court, where a judge ordered him held on $5,000 cash bail, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say Auger, who owned the 10.0 Academy of Gymnastics, sexually assaulted the victim multiple times between Jan. 27, 2018, and July 30, 2019, while he worked as a gymnastics coach.

“During that time, the defendant allegedly assaulted the victim, a student at the gym, on several occasions and allegedly used his position to control the victim,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement. “The assaults allegedly began when the victim was 17-years-old and continued until she was 18.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate Auger’s conduct while he was operating the gym, officials said.

On Friday, in addition to the the cash bail, Auger was ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the victim or any witnesses; have no employment — volunteer or paid work — at a gym of similar facility; have no unsupervised contact with minors; and not to travel outside Massachusetts without court approval.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.
