N.Y. man arrested after leading state police in wild, high-speed chase

The pursuit began Tuesday morning when a state police sergeant attempted to pull over a black Honda Accord with no license plates on I-95 north in Weston.

State police arrested a New York man in Lexington after he led troopers on a high speed chase, reaching over 100 miles per hour at one point, on Interstate 95 Tuesday morning. The pursuit began around 7:16 a.m. when a state police sergeant attempted to pull over a black Honda Accord with no license plates on I-95 north in Weston, according to state police spokesman David Procopio. The suspect reportedly refused to stop, fleeing northbound at high speeds and reaching over 100 mph during “light to moderate traffic on the highway,” Procopio told Boston.com in an email. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop just prior to Exit 29 in Lexington, where the driver was identified as 38-year-old Damion Nunes, of Rosedale, New York.Procopio said Nunes was “combative and the sergeant was forced to utilize his OC spray to subdue the suspect.” Troopers requested the help of Lexington firefighters who evaluated Nunes and found no potential injuries. Nunes was then taken to the State Police-Framingham Barracks, Procopio said, where he was booked on multiple motor vehicle charges.
