19-year-old Cambridge man charged in connection with gunshots fired Saturday night
The incident happened near Harvard and Portland streets around 7:16 p.m.
A 19-year-old Cambridge man has been arrested and charged in connection with gunshots fired near Harvard and Portland streets Saturday night, according to police.Sage Ballard is facing charges of armed assault with intent to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, police said in a news release.A vehicle with two people in it was struck by the gunshots, but no one was injured in the incident, which happened around 7:16 p.m., police said.Police said following the incident, a vehicle left the scene and headed toward Main Street. Officers found “multiple shell casings” at the scene.“I want to commend the members of the community who supported our investigation, as well as our Officers who were quickly able to make an arrest following this senseless violence,” Cambridge police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, Jr. said in a statement. “This was a brazen and unacceptable act, and we were fortunate that nobody was injured.”
