Woman with ‘obvious signs of blunt force trauma’ found dead in Mashpee apartment; man facing murder charge
Police responded to a "call for assistance" around 11:40 a.m. Thursday.
The following is a release from Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe’s office:
Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline announced [Thursday] that at approximately 11:40 am Mashpee Police responded to a call for assistance at an apartment on Center Street in Mashpee. Upon arrival police discovered an unresponsive female with obvious signs of blunt force trauma. She was determined to be deceased.
In connection with her death, a male subject, approximately 46 years old, of Mashpee has been placed under arrest and is being charged with Murder. He remains hospitalized as a result of injuries he sustained.
The matter remains under investigation by Mashpee Police, State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
