Vermont woman pleads not guilty to killing boyfriend
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont woman who police said acknowledged cutting her boyfriend’s throat has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Averil Beliveau called 911 Saturday morning and said she acted in self defense when she “slit his neck” in their apartment in Bolton, WCAX-TV reported.
But Chittenden County State’s Attorney Sarah George said the evidence does not support that assertion. Beliveau’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request to comment.
According to Vermont State Police, Beliveau cut her boyfriend, Cameron Faling, on Thursday, but waited two days before she called authorities.
Investigators found that Faling was the only one with defensive wounds. They also said Beliveau told them she approached Faling with the knife behind her back and bought it weeks earlier.
