R.I. man pleads guilty to Davis Square bank robbery
The 32-year-old from Providence pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery on Monday, among other crimes.
The Rhode Island man who entered a bank nearly a year ago, yelling “Give me money or I’ll shoot!” as customers laid on the floor, pleaded guilty to the crime Monday in Boston federal court, according to the District of Massachusetts’ U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Daniel Rosado, 32, from Providence, had been arrested and charged on May 23, 2019 for the May 1 armed bank robbery in Somerville, and pleaded guilty this week to one count of armed bank robbery, one count of brandishing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During the robbery, Rosado walked into the Middlesex Federal Savings Bank in Somerville wielding a gun, and fired a shot into the ceiling before aiming it at customers and employees, shouting “Get down! … Everybody on the ground!”
As everyone laid on the floor, reports read, Rosado approached the teller and threw a backpack at the window, demanding money.
Reports said the teller began loading the backpack with cash, leaving time for a customer to exit the bank and flag down a police cruiser. The officer entered the bank and ordered Rosado to freeze, pointing a gun at him.
Rosado turned to the officer and fired a shot before exiting the bank and fleeing down College Avenue.
A bystander attempted to tackle Rosado, causing him to drop his backpack, but he continued running until everyone eventually lost sight of him.
Forensic analysis offered up Rosado’s DNA, while police reported finding a Webley revolver, loaded with four unfired rounds of ammunition, two cartridge casings, and more than $500 in the dropped bag.
Rosado’s driver’s license photo also matched the images of the suspect captured on the bank’s video surveillance.
The R.I. man has prior felony convictions, according to court documents, like negligent operation of a motor vehicle, larceny from a person and witness intimidation, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.
His sentencing is scheduled for June 15, 2020.
