Driver charged after allegedly striking developmentally disabled man

A man was in a McDonald’s drive thru last Friday when he allegedly noticed an appalling scene in the vehicle behind him — a driver repeatedly slapping a passenger in the face and then blowing marijuana smoke into his mouth.The passenger reportedly did not seem to respond to what happened; he’s developmentally disabled, non-verbal, and relied on the man to drive him.Now, the driver — Gamaliel Negron, 38, of Framingham — is being charged with assaulting a developmentally disabled adult, according to city police. He was released without bail following his arraignment in Framingham District Court on Tuesday, the MetroWest Daily News reported.Negron, who worked for First Call Transportation of Waltham, has also been fired, the newspaper said.“We do not tolerate this type of behavior,” Mike Antonellis, who manages the transportation company, told MetroWest.The victim’s family said there were bruises to his abdomen, bicep, knuckles, and thigh throughout the month of January, according to a report from the Department of Developmental Services cited by WCVB.Negron had been driving the victim since November, the news station said.
