Police are investigating and a family is mourning following the shooting death of a teen in Boston Saturday.
After a Mattapan teen was shot on Saturday, he was taken to a local hospital where he died from his wounds, Boston police said in a news release.
Police reportedly responded to the shooting around 9:38 p.m. in Mattapan near 12 Colorado St.
WBZ reported that the 18-year-old victim was killed just a block from his grandparents’ home.
“I haven’t wrapped my mind around it, because I’m just still in shock,” a family member told the station. “He was just a baby. He’s innocent and now he’s dead.”
The teen, Hilton Clark, was a high school senior and expecting his first child, WBZ reported.
“He was a beautiful kid, that’s it. And we’re hurting, as we should be, but we’re going to stay strong as a family and we’re going to let his legacy live on,” the family member explained to the station. “We want people to know that this is not a statistic, this is not another death. Somebody took something from our family and also our community.”
A death investigation is underway, and Boston police urge anyone with information to contact their homicide detectives at 617-343-4470. To submit an anonymous tip, people can call 1-800-494-TIPS or text the word ‘TIP’ and a message to 27463.
