The suspects reportedly began tossing rocks into traffic around 8:12 p.m. on Sunday, police say.
State police are charging one man and two teens for allegedly throwing rocks into traffic and hitting two vehicles in Billerica, according to a police news release. Troopers and Billerica police said the incident happened around 8:12 p.m., Sunday, on Route 3 northbound near Exit 27, where three people were reportedly throwing rocks onto the highway from the side of the road. The suspects, a 19-year-old man from Wilmington, a 17-year-old from Billerica, and a 17-year-old from Burlington, are being summoned to court on various charges. Police said the windshield of one driver’s commercial vehicle had been hit, causing glass to fly through the car. He was taken to the Lahey Clinic after suffering minor injuries. Another driver reported that his car was struck by a rock, too, though no injuries were reported. After investigating, state troopers said they found probable cause to believe that the man and teenagers were responsible for throwing rocks at the two cars.
