Boston police responding to a call for a “person with a gun” in Dorchester Sunday encountered a situation involving an alleged stabbing, an armed carjacking, a head-on collision and gunshots fired, according to a police news release. After a pursuit, police arrested a Lawrence man and recovered a loaded firearm. The man,

Edward Delossantos, 41, is charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, armed assault to rob, armed carjacking, kidnapping, assault by means of a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

As officers responded to the incident, which happened at about 8:47 p.m. near 51 Lucerne St. and Callender Street, they said they saw a gray SUV that was later identified as stolen, weaving “erratically throughout various streets in the area.”

Police caught up with the vehicle after it had crashed head on into another car at the intersection of Callender Street and Don Street, where they reported seeing one male chasing another.

Police said they pursued the pair until eventually catching up with the victim, who reported he had been driving down Callender Street towards Blue Hill Avenue when the SUV driving the wrong way on a one-way street struck his vehicle head on.

The victim reportedly told police that he got out of his vehicle and approached two men who had jumped out of the SUV, and that he saw one of them flee the scene carrying a gun. Police said the victim chased after him until he suddenly stopped, turned around, and allegedly pressed the firearm into the victim’s abdomen, fleeing again as officers caught up.

Officers reported placing Delossantos into custody, and subsequently finding a knife and firearm loaded with six rounds of live ammunition in the bushes near 162 Callender St.

Additional responding units reported located a second victim suffering from stab wounds near Arbutus Street and Irma Street.

His injuries have been reported as non-life-threatening and he was transported to a local hospital.

Detectives reportedly spoke in the hospital with the second victim, who they said alleged Delossantos had approached him and forced him into the back seat of his own vehicle, the gray SUV, at gunpoint.

Police reported that the victim said Delossantos entered the back seat of his car with him, while another man got into the driver’s seat and a third accomplice ran to a white Mercedes.

He said the suspects demanded money and struck him over the head with the gun, according to the report.

Then, the driver passed a knife to Delossantos in the back seat, and he allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times before the victim was finally able to flee the car. The victim told detectives that as he ran from the back seat, the suspect fired a gunshot before the men drove away in his SUV.
