Vermont man wanted for N.Y. murder arrested at Logan Airport
Antwaun Twitty, 30, of Burlington, was wanted in the Sept. 17 homicide case of a 19-year-old woman, police said.
A Vermont man who was one of two suspects wanted for a murder in Troy, New York, was arrested at Logan Airport Tuesday, according to authorities.
Antwaun Twitty, 30, of Burlington, was arrested around 5:15 p.m. by Troy detectives and Massachusetts State Police after he flew to Boston from Los Angeles on Delta Flight 1526, state police said in a statement.
Twitty and Idelisse Armstead, 24, of Brooklyn, New York, each face a second-degree murder charge for the death of 19-year-old Beyonce Wint, according to Troy police.
Wint was shot and killed early on Sept. 17 near 432 4th Ave. in Troy, officials said.
“Troy police detectives have worked many long hours on this difficult and complex case,” Troy police said in a statement. “With the assistance of other law enforcement partners from federal, state, county, the NYPD and the Massachusetts State Police – Troop F, two suspects have been taken into custody for the senseless and tragic death of this young life.
“The Troy Police Department wishes to thank the many law enforcement partners that have also logged many hours of work in helping to bring the killers of Beyonce Wint to justice,” officials added.
Troy authorities arrested Armstead in New York City Tuesday as detectives simultaneously traveled to Logan Airport to arrest Twitty, officials said.
“Twitty was transported to State Police-Logan, where he was booked as a fugitive from justice,” Massachusetts State Police said. “He will be arraigned tomorrow in East Boston District Court as a fugitive. Prosecutors will arrange his rendition to New York.”
