Police arrest possible ‘Red-Handed Bandit,’ Malden’s suspected serial robber
He's only been charged for one robbery so far, but police are investigating whether he was involved in 13 more.
A man who might be the notorious ‘Red-Handed Bandit’ linked to about 14 armed robberies in and around Malden has been arrested, WCVB-5 reported.
Ramfis Casado, 34, was charged for just one of the robberies as police continue to investigate whether he’s connected to the others.
Social media posts from the Malden Police Department show a masked individual wearing red gloves stealing from multiple stores around the city. The bandit allegedly held numerous stores up at knifepoint.
A Malden police officer ran into Casado, who is suspected of being the serial robber, by chance during a holdup at a convenience store Monday, WCVB-5 reported.
“I looked at him head-to-toe, took a step back and he matched the description,” officer Kenny Watkins told the station.
Though the alleged bandit got away from Watkins during a chase, Malden police found and arrested him Tuesday.
“A lot of places have been hit. It’s a good thing he’s not able to do this again,” Watkins said.
