Officials say it’s not clear why the woman climbed or jumped out of the car’s window.
A Taunton woman abruptly “exited” a car on a Plainville highway early Sunday morning, according to police. The driver of the car was arrested and charged with drinking and driving.
Officials say it’s not clear why the woman climbed or jumped out of the car’s window around 1 a.m. on Route 495 southbound between Exits 14 and 13. The 26-year-old was found lying in the road with serious injuries, but she was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and is expected to survive.
Joseph Monsini, 25, of Taunton, was driving the car at the time, police said. He remained on scene and was arrested for driving under the influence.
State police are investigating the incident.
