N.H. woman allegedly crashes stolen car after police pursuit

A New Hampshire woman is accused of refusing to stop for police while driving a stolen vehicle under the influence and then crashing it into a pole in Derry, New Hampshire, on Monday night, according to authorities.Cindy Case, 54, of Chester, is charged with driving under the influence, reckless operation, reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer, receiving stolen property, and driving after her license was suspended or revoked, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m., Salem police noticed the vehicle, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, that they thought may have been stolen. After finding out that was the case, police attempted to make a traffic stop, but Case allegedly continued driving on Route 28 northbound at about 30 mph. The vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and went into the opposite lane “several times.”

The vehicle crossed into Derry and slowed down to about 20 mph. It then crashed into a utility pole. Case was found unconscious behind the wheel, according to police. She was treated by emergency responders and held in Rockingham County Jail overnight to await a Wednesday arraignment.
