A Wareham man is being held without bail after he allegedly stabbed another Wareham man following a “traffic confrontation” last week.
David Robbins, 65, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon during his arraignment Tuesday in Wareham District Court, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. His next court date is set for Dec. 12.
Around 4:55 a.m. last Wednesday, Wareham police went to 184 Main St. for a 911 call reporting a stabbing, authorities said. On scene, police found a damaged vehicle and a man outside of it bleeding from a stab wound, the release said. The victim — identified as Yves Roux Jr., 33 — was rushed to Tobey Hospital in Wareham and then flown by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he died two days later.
Wareham police, along with state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, investigated and, via surveillance and dashcam videos, plus eyewitness accounts, determined that the two men — Robbins in a pickup truck and Roux in a sedan — were at an intersection when Robbins allegedly stopped his truck in the road.
Roux got out of his vehicle and went up to the truck, according to the release. The men “exchanged words” and then Robbins allegedly stabbed Roux’s arm, officials said.
“Bleeding profusely, Roux returned to his vehicle, performed a U-turn and headed in the other direction on Main Street,” the release said. “His vehicle drifted into several parked cars on the side of the street before coming to a stop. A bystander called 911 at that time.”
The men, who did not know each other, had been on their ways to work, officials said.
