Braintree police looking for shoplifting suspect who allegedly hit officer with SUV
The alleged shoplifter reportedly stole multiple hats from the Lids Locker Room at South Shore Plaza in Braintree.
A Braintree police officer was hit by an SUV at a shopping plaza Saturday night while trying to apprehend a shoplifting suspect.
The officer was knocked down by the SUV but suffered only “very minor injuries,” according to Deputy Chief Sean Lydon.
The alleged shoplifter reportedly stole multiple hats from the Lids Locker Room at South Shore Plaza around 7:15 p.m. He then ran to a parking garage and took off in the SUV, hitting the officer as he fled.
Police are still looking for the suspect, who was described as a black man about 6-feet-four-inches tall and weighing 240 pounds.
