Police thought a driver might have needed help. They say they found him smoking pot and carrying crack and heroin.

Police described it as a “large amount" — 93 grams, to be precise.

When police stopped 23-year-old Kevin Periel on Tuesday, he appeared to be smoking a joint. Then they reported finding a “large amount” of what they believed to be heroin and crack cocaine in his car.

Officers noticed the Cambridge man’s white sedan stopped on Gilmore Bridge in front of Bunker Hill Community College around 10 p.m. and went to ask if he needed assistance. That’s when they smelled the marijuana and noticed the joint in Periel’s hand, according to police reports.

Before having his car towed, police searched it and reported finding what they called a “large amount” of what was apparently heroin and crack cocaine. Altogether, the drugs weighed 93 grams.
