Police arrest man on warrants for assaulting an officer after he tries to skip T fare
When he was stopped for a citation, David Callinan reportedly gave police a fake name.
Police arrested a man wanted on several warrants Tuesday after he apparently tried to skip out on his T fare.
Officers noticed 42-year-old David Callinan of Malden “piggybacking” into the MBTA’s Central Station behind paying customers, according to a release.
When he was stopped for a citation, he reportedly gave police a fake name.
“Undeterred,” the release said, “the officers discovered his true identity,” which showed there were multiple warrants for Callinan’s arrest.
He was wanted by two different Boston-area courts for assault and battery on a police officer and also had warrants for possession of controlled narcotics and intent to distribute the drugs.
Callinan was arrested around 5 p.m. and taken to transit police headquarters for booking.
