Boston man who allegedly ‘violently restrained’ woman in South End arrested
Michael Powers, 34, is facing a variety of charges.
Police arrested a Boston man Monday after he allegedly “violently restrained” a woman Sunday evening in the South End.
Michael Powers, 34, was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon, according to a release.
A Boston police spokesperson declined to say what the weapon was or elaborate on the incident.
The woman told police she freed herself and yelled for help, according to an initial release, and the suspect then ran away. She declined medical treatment at the scene, which was near Rotch Playground.
After Powers was arrested Monday near 774 Massachusetts Ave., police found he was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
The warrant charges include larceny over $250, possession of Class A drugs, breaking and entering, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, larceny from a person, destruction of property, and trespassing.
