Police looking for man who ‘violently restrained’ a woman in the South End
The alleged incident occurred near Rotch Playground.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who allegedly “violently restrained” a woman around 5 p.m Sunday near Rotch Playground in the South End.
Officer Stephen McNulty declined to give more details of the alleged attack Monday, citing possible interference with the investigation. He said the woman declined medical treatment at the scene.
The woman told police she freed herself and yelled for help, according to a release, and the man ran away. He was described as a white male in his 30s with a medium build and short brown hair. He was clean shaven at the time and was wearing a black baseball cap, blue T-shirt, black shorts, and a black backpack.
Witnesses tried to stop the man, the release said, but he was able to get away and was last seen headed toward Albany Street where he leapt over a fence into a courtyard at the Pine Street Inn.
Police ask that anyone with information on the incident contact detectives at 617-343-5619.
