Cambridge teen arrested for allegedly knocking woman unconscious, stealing purse
The woman told officers she was hit with a blunt object.
A 16-year-old from Cambridge was arrested Saturday night after allegedly knocking a woman unconscious and stealing her purse.
Someone walking by found the 30-year-old woman bleeding from the head around 10:45 p.m. on Loughrey Walkway in Kendall Square.
She told officers she was hit with a blunt object by a man who rode away on a bicycle. The woman was taken to the hospital because of a “severe laceration” over her left eye, according to a Cambridge Police Department release.
Police watched surveillance video from a nearby business and located the suspect before searching his apartment.
Officers then found the bicycle and clothing worn during the alleged attack. The woman’s purse was found in a nearby trash can, police said.
The boy also had a double-edged knife, according to the release.
His preliminary charges include unarmed robbery, aggravated assault and battery, and possession of a deadly weapon.
