Brockton man arrested in fatal Dorchester shooting

A 28-year-old Brockton man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a man was fatally shot in Dorchester Tuesday night, police say.

Officers arrested Shakeem McNeill at about 3 a.m. in Brockton. He was expected to be arraigned on a murder charge in Dorchester District Court, according to a release from the Boston Police Department.

Police responded to the shooting near 95 Millet St. around 8:42 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

“Officers observed an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds,” the release says. “The victim was transported to a local hospital by Boston EMS, where he was later pronounced deceased.”

Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu tweeted that the shooting marks Boston’s 14th homicide this year.
