‘Give me the weed or I will shoot you’: 28-year-old man facing charges for attempted armed robbery in Brookline
Adrian Thomas, 28, faces charges of attempted armed robbery and resisting arrest, police said.
A Boston man allegedly threatened to shoot a man if he didn’t give him the marijuana he had just purchased at a Brookline dispensary, according to Brookline police.Adrian Thomas, 28, was arraigned on charges of attempting to commit an armed robbery and resisting arrest on Tuesday, according to The Boston Globe. Thomas pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $500 and he was ordered monitored via a GPS.Police were called to the Brookline Village area around 10:14 p.m., according to the department’s website. The victim was reportedly “upset and still shaking” from the incident, police said in a report.The victim told police he purchased marijuana at the nearby NETA dispensary when a man on a “squeaky bicycle” went up to him near 8 Harvard St. and asked him for a cigarette. The victim told Thomas he didn’t have any. The victim crossed the street and kept walking toward Kent Street, according to police in the report. When he got to Amden Place, he saw Thomas again.“Fearful that the individual was following him [the victim] crossed over Harvard Street and walked up Davis Avenue,” the report says. The victim heard the squeaky bicycle wheel again; he took out his phone since he was becoming “fearful,” according to the report. Then he turned around.“Give me the weed or I will shoot you,” Thomas allegedly said; it looked like he was holding a “small pistol,” according to the report.The victim then saw a woman walking her dog on the other side of the street, according to police. He stepped into the middle of the road with the hope that seeing someone else would help to defuse the situation.The victim walked toward Washington Street and called police, the report says.“You scared Bro,” Thomas allegedly said to the victim, according to the report.Police found Thomas nearby and, when an officer told him to get off his bicycle, he didn’t, instead heading toward Colburn Street. He then changed his direction and headed toward Brookline, police said in the report. On South Huntington Avenue, Thomas allegedly dismounted the bicycle and began running. He stopped in an alley and faced police, but didn’t follow commands. He was then taken into custody.
