Authorities release video of Davis Square bank robbery, offer reward for info on suspect

The suspect is still at large and considered "armed and dangerous," the FBI said Thursday afternoon.

The FBI Boston and Somerville police are now offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the bank robber who exchanged gunfire with a Somerville officer Wednesday morning.

The man, described by the FBI as in his 30s, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11, with a light complexion, pulled out a black revolver and robbed the Middlesex Federal Savings Bank on College Avenue in Davis Square just before 10 a.m., authorities said.

“The suspect entered the bank holding a revolver, fired one round into the ceiling and demanded money from the teller,” according to the FBI wanted poster. “After a uniformed Somerville police officer in the vicinity of Davis Square was alerted to a possible bank robbery in progress, the officer entered the bank and the suspect allegedly fired a round at the responding officer before fleeing the bank on foot.”

The officer fired back, Somerville Police Chief David Fallon told reporters on Wednesday. No one was hit, an official told The Boston Globe.

The suspect was wearing “a blue beanie, a dark glove on his left hand, and a hooded camouflage jacket featuring a Nike logo on the left side above his chest,” according to the FBI. He also had on blue jeans and black sneakers and was carrying a black and red backpack.

He remained at large Thursday afternoon and is considered “armed and dangerous,” the FBI said on Twitter.
