‘Better move that dog or I will kill it and eat it’: 2 men arrested after alleged assault in Fall River
Joshua L. Farias and Brian Richard Souza are both facing multiple charges.
Two Fall River men were charged Wednesday after allegedly assaulting a man with his own cane and threatening to eat his dog.The 57-year-old man told Fall River police that he was walking with his wife and dog that afternoon when two men — identified by police as Joshua L. Farias and Brian Richard Souza, both 37 — approached him, with one of the men saying, “better move that dog or I will kill it and eat it,” according to a release. As the man attempted to enter his apartment behind his wife, Farias and Souza allegedly followed him and began punching him in the face and head. “The 57-year-old attempted to defend himself by striking the males with his cane,” officers said in the release. “Both males pushed the 57-year-old on the ground, took the cane and [struck] him with it while kicking him. The [57-year-old’s] wife shouted, ‘I called the police.’ The males exited the apartment and walked away.” Farias and Souza were found several houses away and denied physical contact with the man, officers say. They were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a disabled person, and breaking and entering in the daytime for felony.
