MBTA Transit Police arrested a Brighton man after he allegedly glared at and then punched a 31-year-old man, knocking him into the track area of an Orange Line station, authorities said Friday.

Authorities received a radio call for a reported assault at Green Street Station around 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a statement.

On arrival, officers were told that the victim, before he entered the station, saw a man, later identified as David Joress, 30, put on a face mask and “sternly glare” at him, police said.

The two men exchanged words over the alleged expression, and the victim then proceeded to the inbound platform, officials said.
