Someone in a vehicle traveling on I-495 allegedly shot into another one; no injuries reported

Police found the vehicle driven by the alleged shooter or shooters, but couldn't find a suspect Wednesday night.

Someone inside a vehicle allegedly shot into another vehicle while both were traveling on I-495 southbound in Haverhill Wednesday evening, state police say.Someone called police around 6:54 p.m. and said they saw the apparent shooting on the highway just before Route 213. The caller described the vehicles; police didn’t receive reports of anyone shot.Soon afterward, state police spotted a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant on Winthrop Avenue in Lawrence “that appeared to have sustained possible damage from a projectile,” police said.“The occupants of the damaged vehicle were not cooperative with Troopers,” police said in a statement. “State Police [requested] Crime Scene Services personnel to examine the vehicle.”Several hours later, Haverhill police found the vehicle used by the alleged shooter or shooters outside of an apartment complex around 10:30 p.m.Additional police, including a K-9 unit, went to the scene to help, but police weren’t able to find the owner. The vehicle was towed. Police are continuing to investigate.
