An Ashby man allegedly fled the scene of a crash in New Hampshire on Friday and then hid in a river to try to avoid capture by police only to become hypothermic, authorities said.Peter Dubey, 49, was charged with aggravated drunken driving and felony conduct after an accident, according to New Hampshire state troopers. The vehicle he was allegedly driving, a GMC Yukon, was not only involved in a “multi-vehicle crash” on Route 12 in Troy, New Hampshire, just after 2 p.m., but had reportedly been in another crash earlier that day. When authorities responded to the Route 12 crash, police began searching for the Yukon, which had allegedly caused the incident and left the scene. The vehicle was found on Marlborough Road, and it was “disabled” due to damage, police said. When a trooper was just getting there, Dubey reportedly took off on foot.Police arrested the passenger of the vehicle, Adam Saldana, 56, of Fitchburg, and charged him with receiving stolen property.Members from various police departments then began to help with the search for Dubey, which ended with him being found in a nearby river. He became “aggressive and combative” while he was being brought to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire, via ambulance, authorities said.Police say more charges could come from the incident.
