The Brockton mayor’s city-owned vehicle was set on fire last week
State officials are offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arsonist.
Someone set Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter’s city-owned vehicle on fire last week while it was parked outside his home on Pearl Street, according to State Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey.Now, the State Fire Marshal’s office is offering up to a $5,000 reward for help in identifying a suspect.The 2015 Ford Explorer was found damaged last Saturday, officials said. It’s believed that someone set the vehicle on fire the night before, but that it extinguished itself. The vehicle sustained minor damage.“As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for my family and I,’’ Carpenter said in the statement, as reported by The Boston Globe. “We have faith in the state and local public safety agencies involved to complete a thorough investigation.”
