2 men held without bail after shots fired into Planet Fitness in Lynn

Two teens are facing a variety of gun-related charges after allegedly shooting into the Planet Fitness gym in Lynn on Saturday afternoon. No one was hurt in the incident.Jahkeal Brown, 19, of Roslindale, and Kymauri Jean-Lestin, 19, of Lynn were both charged with armed assault to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a loaded weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition without proper identification, and trafficking a Class B drug, according to The Daily ItemThe pair appeared in Lynn District Court Monday for arraignment and pleaded not guilty, Boston 25 News reported. They are being held without bail; their next court date is Dec. 4. An off-duty police officer heard the gunshots around 1:15 p.m., CBS Boston reported. He pursued Brown and Jean-Lestin and called for backup. “There were six shots fired and the shots certainly went right through the glass of the Planet Fitness,” Police Lt. Michael Kmiec told the news station.Pictures of the scene show glass shattered from the bullets and casings on the floor of the gym.Along with finding the gun allegedly used, law enforcement also seized around 80 grams of crack cocaine during the arrest, according to reports.“The officer did a great job keeping dispatch updated on the location so we could get additional officers there to assist him and then they were able to make the stop of the vehicle and then get evidence as well,” Kmiec said, according to CBS Boston.This wasn’t a random act, according to prosecutors.The two were targeting a man who was in the gym at the time. He and Jean-Lestin knew each other, NECN reported.
