Shortly after a gas station convenience store in Easton opened Monday morning, a gunman wearing a Halloween mask robbed the place, police said.
The Easton Police Department received multiple reports of the armed robbery at New World gas station around 5:20 a.m., according to a release. The 460 Turnpike St. business opens at 5 a.m.
After entering the store, the man, who was dressed in all black, ordered the clerk to “empty the cash register while pointing a handgun at him,” police said. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled on foot eastbound on Foundry Street.
The clerk was not injured, but was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to police.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
