North Andover man arraigned in Hopkinton stabbing held without bail
Damon Deniso, 41, was charged with armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, authorities said.
A North Andover man accused of stabbing a man inside a Hopkinton residence was held without bail Thursday during his arraignment hearing in Framingham District Court, according to the Middlesex Country District Attorney’s office.
Judge Matthew McGrath ordered that Damon Deniso, 41, who faces charges of armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, be held as prosecutors await a dangerousness hearing slated for Nov. 6, the district attorney’s office said in a statement.
Police were alerted to the non-fatal stabbing after Hopkinton authorities received a call reporting a man bleeding from his head at a West Main Street residence around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, officials said.
“Upon arrival, authorities learned that the man who was a guest at the house had allegedly been stabbed by the defendant,” the statement said. “The assailant had fled the scene.”
The victim, who suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, was brought to a local hospital, authorities said.
Deniso was identified as a suspect by witnesses and the victim, according to officials. Local police and a K-9 trooper from the Massachusetts State Police found Deniso at his nearby workplace, the statement said.
Hopkinton police and state police assigned to the district attorney’s office are continuing an investigation into the stabbing, which officials said is “not believed to be a random incident.”
