Man arrested in Salem after allegedly challenging train passengers to fight

A man was arrested in Salem on Halloween night after police say he challenged passengers on a commuter rail train to fights and then took out a knife when one asked him to stop.Christopher Leclerc, 25, of Salem, was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon (the knife) and possession of Class E drugs, according to MBTA Transit Police.Police were called to the Salem train station around 6:45 p.m. for a report of “an assaultive unruly male” aboard a train about to arrive, they said.Witnesses told police Leclerc was “intimidating passengers, challenging people to fist fights, consuming alcohol,” and getting in passengers’ “personal space.”When a man on the train asked Leclerc to stop, Leclerc allegedly took out the knife and threatened to hurt him.During Leclerc’s arrest, police found the knife in his pocket and “prescription narcotics” that weren’t his, they said.
