A clerk in Stoughton was pistol whipped Sunday night by a masked man who also fired his gun as he attempted to rob the convenience store, police say.

Authorities received a call just before midnight for a robbery at the Quick Stop store at 2139 Central St., police officials wrote in a Facebook post.

The clerk told officers a masked man had “stormed” into the store with a gun and demanded cash, the statement said. When he refused to give him the money, the man allegedly pistol whipped him and fired one round before fleeing the scene.

The clerk was not hit by the gunfire, police said.

Officers searched the area but did not find the man. Police described the suspect, apparently caught on camera, as a “black male with a thin build.”

“He was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark pants and had a red bandana covering his face,” officials said.
