In Salem, a cauldron was allegedly used as a dangerous weapon on Saturday night

One man allegedly struck another in the head with a decorative cauldron in Salem late Saturday night.Police said they were patrolling around 11:30 p.m. when a man bleeding from the head told them another man had attacked him.The two had been in a cottage behind a shop that sells candle holders, decorative cauldrons, and other witchcraft-related items, officials said, as reported by the Associated PressCory Nelson, 35, was arrested after police reportedly found him still in the cottage “stumbling around and smelling of alcohol,” according to the AP.Nelson pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the cauldron) during his arraignment Monday, the news service reported.“They’re frequent flyers over here,” Capt. Conrad Prosniewski, a spokesman for Salem police, said of the two men involved. “One grabbed what was convenient to grab that was being sold downtown.”The victim refused medical attention, according to the AP.Prosniewski isn’t sure what the cauldron was made out of or how big it was.“It was enough that it caused a laceration on the victim’s head,” he said.
