Former Lenox bank executive sentenced for embezzling from the bank

The former vice president of Lenox National Bank was sentenced Tuesday for embezzling over $150,000 from the bank, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement Wednesday.Joseph E. Leskovitz, 53, of Lenox, pleaded guilty to three counts of embezzlement of bank funds and one count of money laundering in July. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison and three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay $154,783 in restitution, according to the statement.The U.S. Attorney’s office said Leskovitz was the vice president of Lenox National Bank from 2009 to February 2014. He stole money from certificates of deposits he managed for clients and family members, according to authorities.Leskovitz also stole the proceeds from a loan he opened in the name of a family member without that person’s knowledge knowledge, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
