Police: 14-year-old girl assaulted walking to bus stop in Bourne

A 14-year-old girl was assaulted by a man Thursday morning while walking to a bus stop in Bourne, police said in a Facebook post.Around 6:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of Puritan and Cranberry roads for a report of an assault and battery. Police said, based on initial accounts, an unknown man grabbed the girl from behind and threw her to the ground while she was walking along Puritan Road toward the stop.The man then allegedly grabbed the teen by the neck before a witness intervened. The man fled the scene in a light color, possible blue or gray, older model sedan with a license plate potentially containing “SW” or “5W.”The suspect was described as a white man of medium height, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, with gray stubble on his face, according to police.The incident remains under investigation but police said they don’t believe there is an increased risk to other children in town.
