Man killed in Dorchester shooting identified

A man who was killed in a Dorchester shooting Saturday has been identified by police.Nathaniel Rivers, 29, of Roxbury, was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries at Boston Medical Center, Boston police said in a statement Monday.Around 12:40 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of 2 Bentham Road for a report of shots fired. Ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene but police said they found no victim.Officers later learned Rivers left the scene before police arrived and took himself to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Police said he died after being transferred to Boston Medical Center.The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 617-343-4470.
