Hyde Park man pleads guilty to 2014 fatal stabbing at party

A Hyde Park man pleaded guilty Thursday to the December 21, 2014, fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Rafael Guzman during a fight at a party, the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said in a statement.Aquiles Perez, 35, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to 14 to 19 years in state prison for Guzman’s homicide, as well as two concurrent terms of eight to 12 years and three to five years for injuries to another man and woman, according to the DA’s office.On December 21, 2014, Perez made advances on two women at a party on Blue Hill Avenue in Boston, authorities said. Guzman told Perez to leave the women alone, leading to a fight between the two men during which Perez stabbed Guzman in the hallway outside the party, according to the DA’s office.Another man then charged at Perez and the two fought before Perez stabbed him in the chest, the DA’s office said. This second victim’s sister tried to break the fight up and suffered a cut to her hand, according to authorities.
