Dorchester man held without bail in 2015 homicide
A Dorchester man was arraigned Wednesday in connection with the 2015 shooting death of 19-year-old Joshua Morales in Mattapan, the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said in a statement.
Khari Wilcox, 19, was held without bail at his arraignment on charges of second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm.
Around 8:49 a.m. on December 29, 2015, Morales was shot multiple times, including once in the torso, on Wilmore Street, according to the DA’s office.
Authorities said Boston police recovered video surveillance from the scene that seemed to show Morales and another man walking down the driveway of a Wilmore Street home and going behind the building.
The video then shows Wilcox going behind the same building before running back away from it with a gun in his hand, the DA’s office said. Morales and the second man come out from behind the building shortly after, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
An inspection of Morales’ and Wilcox’s cell phones revealed that the two had been communicating and made plans to meet that morning, according to the DA’s office.
Wilcox has been in custody since his arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court on July 22 on gun charges arising from the homicide investigation, authorities said. His September 8 indictment moved the case to Suffolk Superior Court.
Wilcox was expected back in court on November 29.
