Authorities: MS-13 member pleads guilty to charge in connection with Chelsea stabbing

An MS-13 member pleaded guilty Friday to racketeering conspiracy in connection with the stabbing of a rival gang member in Chelsea in December 2015, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement Monday.Mauricio Sanchez, aka “Tigre,” 29, of Chelsea, was one of 61 individuals indicted in January after a three-year investigation into the criminal activities of alleged leaders, members, and associates of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) in Massachusetts, according to the statement.In his plea agreement, Sanchez admitted that he and other MS-13 members stabbed a gang rival near Bellingham Square in Chelsea on December 27, 2015, according to authorities. The victim was believed to be a member of the 18th Street gang.Sanchez was identified as a member of MS-13’s Eastside Loco Salvatrucha (ESLS) clique, the U.S. Attorney’s office said. He allegedly initiated new members and paid dues to fund gang activities in Massachusetts and El Salvador.Sanchez is the sixth defendant to plead guilty as part of the January indictment. He is expected to be sentenced on December 22.
